Fairy Godmother-if only for a day.

Today I was able to be a part of Cinderella's Closet thanks to the Junior League of Kane and DuPage Counties. It was so much fun playing Fairy Godmother to ladies getting ready for prom. There were so many lovely gowns to pick from and then there were the shoes, purses, and earrings...it was one-stop shopping. They even had in-house alterations and hair stylists to help complete the look! My favorite part was seeing the girls find the right dresses and showing them off to family and friends. I also had the chance to talk with Dr. Chiann Fan Gibson. She is none other than Mrs. United States 2005. Watch out Aurora! You have some beautiful young women who will be stepping out this prom season.

Congratulations Mrs. Indiana United States

This weekend I had the chance to experience the Mrs. Indiana United States competition. They were an amazing group of ladies. I had the priviledge to get to know them over the two days. It was a great show, BUT the problem was only one person could take home the crown.(we're all queens anyway, right?) Congratulations Juanita Ingram! She is articulate, thoughtful, and beautiful. She will represent the Hoosier state very well. Thank you for allowing me to be part of the festivities.

Here Comes Johnny Cottontail.

Happy Easter and Passover! For years I have worked just about every holiday as the news never stops. This year I was lucky enough to spend Easter with my husband John and our son, Johnny. We met my in-laws for brunch along with a visit to the Easter Bunny. Poor Bunny. My son fell instantly in love and spent much of the brunch trying to climb up the rabbit. Who knew faux fur provided such good grip!

Time To Celebrate

Today was Illinois' Save Abanonded Babies Day. We honored the hardwork of the Save Abanonded Babies Foundation and all it has accomplished. Since the Save Haven Law went into effect in 2001, 31 newborns have been safely relinquished to safe havens across the state. I have met some of these children who are amazing little beings.

To celebrate, the artwork of three Chicago high school students was selected and the artists were given cash awards as were the schools they attend. The students created posters about the Safe Haven Law. They are such creative young minds! I had the priviledge of giving them the awards.
